Does @facebook.com Really Matter?

Facebook just announced Facebook messages which combines email SMS, and chat in a single format. In addition to the new messaging, FB is also offering its own version of Microsoft’s Office Suite, called Facebook Docs, which means you will be able to open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents using your new messaging system. We care about this because we are seeing a huge increase in opt-in registrations using personal email to conduct business. More and more people have secondary and tertiary email addresses. Opt-in forms, landing pages CRMs all need to be modified to handle multiple email addresses so people can choose how they want you to communicate with them. They could want your newsletter to go to one address and direct communication to another. With 500 million active users this is something to consider, because it’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when. What are doing now to handle opt-ins with personal email when you already have the person in your database with their business email. Do you delete and replace, or have you created new fields and procedures to accommodate?
